CBC Television is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the publication of Stephen Leacock's comedic classic Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town with a brand-new adaptation. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Gordon Pinsent, Caroline Rhea, Jill Hennessy and many more, this adaptation deftly weaves aspects of Leacock's own life into the fictional world his characters inhabit.

Two of the 12 sketches found in Leacock's book are the foundation for this adaptation: The Hostelry of Mr. Smith and The Marine Excursions of the Knights of Pythias. In CBC's adaptation, the elder Stephen Leacock is both the narrator of the film and a wry, ghost-like presence in it. His boyhood self and his real-life parents are the protagonists in this coming-of-age story, interacting with the wonderful fictional characters who inhabit Leacock's masterpiece.

You can watch the adaptation in its entirety in the video player above.
