This year, the CBC Massey Lectures celebrates its 50th anniversary with bestselling author and New Yorker staff writer Adam Gopnik. Adam's theme for the 2011 lectures is Winter: Five Windows on the Season.
Starting tonight, November 7, at 9 p.m. (9:30 p.m. NT), this year's Massey Lectures are airing on Ideas on CBC Radio One. Tune in for "Romantic Winter: The season in sight," which was recorded in Montreal, Adam's first stop on his Massey Lecture tour.
Adam grew up in Montreal, and he says it's where he first fell in love with winter. He has fond memories of his first snowstorm, and even the bitter cold. In this preview clip, Adam talks about those early winters in Montreal and what they represent to him. Listen below, and tune in to the broadcast on Ideas tonight!
