The beloved PBS children's book program Reading Rainbow, which ended its 26-year run in 2009, has been reinvented as a digital app.
RRKidz will be available as a free download on iPad and some Android devices, and will offer hundreds of kids books via subscription, with the selection curated by longtime host LeVar Burton.
"For 25 years Reading Rainbow gave me the opportunity to excite children about books and reading through the medium of television. With RRKidz, I will be able to bring that same spirit of discovery, imagination and adventure to today's digitally connected kids through enhanced e-books," Burton said in a statement this week. "RRKidz's innovative platform allows us to deliver an incredibly exciting interactive storytelling experience through partnerships with leading publishers."
Here's hoping that Reading Rainbow 2.0 will be as much fun and engaging as the iconic television program. Check out some of our favourite Reading Rainbow moments below.
