We hosted the July #CanLit chat on Thursday, July 7, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. ET. The theme was "book reviews, book blogs and readers: the constantly changing relationship between reading books, writing about books and reading writing about books." Lots of people from every aspect of publishing came by to share their thoughts. Three major themes emerged:
1) Book bloggers can — and should — have a less formal, more personal approach to writing about books.
2) Reviews should be as, if not moreso, creative and thoughtful than the book being reviewed. The author and their work should be respected, even if it's not well-done or to the reviewers personal taste.
3) Good writing and personality is important, whether you are an author, reviewer or blogger.
You can replay the chat below. The next #CanLit Twitter chat will be on Thursday, August 4, at 2 p.m. ET. We hope you can join us.
