By Christine Millar (Dartmouth, NS)

Years ago, when I lived in Ontario, a fellow that I worked with invited me to go skiing with him to Ellicottville, New York.

He was a quiet guy that I didn't work directly with and I wasn't sure how the date would go because he seemed so shy, but I thought it would be a fun time, so I accepted.

We sat beside each other on the bus to New York when I became aware of those around us staring at my date.

I turned and, to my horror and embarrassment, realized that he was picking his nose and eating it.

I spent the rest of the trip to New York looking out the window and trying to act like I didn't know him.

Needless to say, when we got to Ellicottville, I skiied alone all day.

It was the longest bus ride of my life!
