Replay: Canada Reads live chat with Jeff Lemire

Jeff Lemire with Sara QuinA graphic novelist and comics illustrator who has garnered international acclaim, Jeff Lemire paid tribute to his rural roots in his remarkable trilogy, Essex County, and the world of comics responded with a plethora of major prizes and rave reviews.

Lemire is considered an indie artist, but he has received plenty of mainstream recognition in his field. In 2008, he took the Joe Shuster Award for Best Canadian Cartoonist. That same year, Essex County won the American Library Association's prestigious Alex Award, which celebrates books for adults that also have teen appeal. He has also won multiple Eisner Awards, which are regarded as the Oscars of the comics world.

Sara Quin is defending Essex County during the Canada Reads debates on February 7, 8 and 9 on CBC Radio One.
