Movie houses at a crossroads in Saskatchewan
Hollywood is making it clear that film based movies are on their way out. Cinemas are being warned they'll have to make the change to digital projectors in 12-18 months -- or go out of business. As Sean Prpick explains to Garth Materie, some small town operators have made the conversion, but for others this poses a real challenge. Owners of these mostly mom-and-pop businesses aren't sure they can justify spending a hundred thousand dollars, or more, to make the conversion. So the future of these movie palaces, some of which are close to a century old, is murky.
