Niagara regional police have released images from security video of a vicious attack in St. Catharines.

They say the incident occurred in the downtown area of St. Paul Street early last Saturday but was not reported to police.

Police say a group of youths — four males and two females — struck a man with an object and then kicked him while he lay on the ground.

Police say the group fled after going through the man's pockets.

Investigators are seeking the assistance of anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information about the attack.
