Erica Strange has come a long way from when we first met her. Thanks to the guidance of her time-travel therapist Dr. Tom, Erica has gone through some major life changes, and Season Four finds her happily in a new relationship, and at the helm of 50/50 Press, the publishing company she started with Julianne. Last season, there was a huge shift in the nature of her therapy as Erica began group sessions with Dr. Tom's other patients. This prepared Erica for her biggest test yet, and last season ended with Erica successfully graduating to "Phase Three" of her therapy: Doctor training. Who will her first patient be?
Alberta-born Erin Karpluk graduated with distinction from the University of Victoria as a Theatre Major. Her first big break came when she landed the lead role of "Kate" on Godiva's, which garnered Erin a 2006 Gemini nomination for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series.
For the past 3 years, Erin has starred as 'Erica' on the hit CBC series Being Erica, which currently airs in over 180 countries, and is about to begin its fourth season in Toronto. In between seasons, Erin recurred on the CW series Life Unexpected and appeared on the hugely successful CTV series Flashpoint.
When not working in Toronto, Erin divides her time between Vancouver and Los Angeles where she has worked on several feature films and hit television series. Some credits include the feature film ALMOST HEAVEN, starring DONAL LOGUE and LOVE AND OTHER DILEMMAS, for which she was nominated for a LEO AWARD for best supporting actress. Television credits include; MEN IN TREES with Anne Heche, FLASH GORDON (SciFi), for which she received two 2008 Leo Award nominations and DARK ANGEL, for which she was hand picked by Award-winning director James Cameron to play the pregnant X5 Gem, a recurring role on THE GUARD (Global), and the lead role in the cable feature WYVERYN.
In the fall of 2009, Erin won a Gemini Award for Best Lead Actress in a dramatic series, and following that in the spring of 2010, the Leo Award for Best Lead Actress in a dramatic series for her portrayal of 'Erica' in Being Erica. In her down time, Erin's love and passion for animals made being apart of BCSPCA's Guardian Angel Program a natural fit. In addition, Erin was the cover for a Vancouver based charity calendar - PinUps for Pink- which raised money for Breast Cancer Foundations across North America
