TransLink reported the LiveCity Yaletown site reached capacity by 7:30 p.m. last Friday and lineups were promptly shut down. Other sites - including the Irish House, the Atlantic Canada House and the Robson Square Zip Line - have been experiencing lengthy waits.
In addition to lineups, many sites are charging entrance fees. According to the City Caucus website, the Irish House charges a $10 cover before 7 p.m. and $20 after. While some may embrace the costs and waiting times at Olympic sites, others are frustrated:
@dailyuncooking Gotta say despite waiting 4 hours to get into German House on Saturday, it was awesome inside. Great bratwursts! #olympics
@jlmckenzie Am hearing there is a 2 hour line up for the #irishhouse!
@OliverBloom It was fun to see so many people downtown yesterday for the Olympics but such long lineups everywhere. Were the lineups worth it?
@stodmyk Already a two-hour lineup to see (& touch!) the medals at the Mint Pavillion. #van2010 #olympics #lineups
@AlexeiRWhite Foiled by lineups everywhere we go. LINES.. LINES.. LINES!!!... #olympics
