Port Coquitlam
Incorporated in 1913, Port Coquitlam has a total land area of 28.85 square km. The City is located on the north bank of the Fraser River. It is bounded on the north and west by Coquitlam, and is in the District of Metro Vancouver.
The 2006 census lists Port Coquitlam’s population at 52,687 with 8.4% of residents being over the age of 65. 28.2% of the City’s population are immigrants with 70.2% declaring English as their first language. Chinese languages are listed as the second most common for the region.
20.3% of Port Coquitlam’s residents are renters. The median after-tax income for families is $65,747 with an unemployment rate of 4.9%.
