Incorporated in 1874, Maple Ridge has a total land area of 265.79 square km. The District is located on the north bank of the Fraser River between Pitt Meadows and Mission. Maple Ridge is in the Metro Vancouver district.
The 2006 census lists Maple Ridge’s population at 68,949 with 11.5% of residents being over the age of 65. 17.2% of the District’s population are immigrants with 85.3% declaring English as their first language. German is listed as the second most common language in the region.
19.3% of Maple Ridge’s residents are renters. The median after-tax income for families is $63,896 with an unemployment rate of 4.6%.
