Community Spaces

As part of our redevelopment, a joint initiative was undertaken between the City of Vancouver's Cultural Services Department and CBC/Radio-Canada Vancouver to create Studio 700 and the Outdoor Stage for community use.

Studio 700 and the Outdoor Stage are available to rent, free of charge, 5 days per month, to Vancouver-based registered charities, societies and other non-profit organizations with a cultural or artistic mandate.

These spaces can be booked either together or separately for a maximum of 5 days in a row. Our goal is to attract a diverse array of cultural and artistic organizations, and as such we may limit the number of occasions per year.

For Studio 700, non-profit community users can charge the general public an admission fee and require tickets to be shown in order to obtain admittance to their event. Maximum capacity for Studio 700 is 150 people.

CBC/Radio-Canada Vancouver can restrict events if the type, nature or form of the event is in direct conflict with our operations, ie. content, subject matter, noise, vibration, public interest, etc.

How to reserve a space

To put a TENTATIVE HOLD on these spaces, you must submit your request in writing, either by online request form, fax or mail at least 8 weeks prior to the intended date of event, on a first come first served basis.

Confirmation

Your booking is CONFIRMED only when we have received the following within 8 weeks of your event:

  • 1. security deposit of a certified cheque or wire transfer (to be negotiated depending on cleaning, security and technical/stagehand requirements)
  • 2. a copy of your Certificate of Incorporation and your BC Society number or Federal Charitable number as applicable (applicants must be registered as a non-profit society in good standing with the Province of BC Register of Companies)
  • 3. proof of $2 million liability insurance
  • 4. a signed event agreement: Event agreement for Studio 700 PDF icon (372 kb) and Event agreement for Outdoor Stage PDF icon (714 kb)

N.B. If an event is cancelled, the security deposit is refundable, if no time is spent (ie. cleaning, security, technical or staging assistance).

Additional Costs:

  • 1. Security (required for an audience) - $16.40/hr. plus tax, minimum 4 hours
  • 2. Cleaning (if you are not able to clean up after yourselves, or if your event is on a Friday or Saturday) - $105.00, plus tax
  • 3. CBC/Radio Canada stagehand, audio or lighting assistance (if required) is $50/hr ($75/hr after 8 hours)
