The Vancouver Canucks have been the story of the sports world this year, and as the 2012 NHL Playoffs approach, fans are hoping this is the year the elusive Stanley Cup will come home.

Once again, hosts Shane Foxman and Karin Larsen will take fans through every goal, save, penalty and nail biting moment, experience the post-game feel of the dressing rooms, show live coverage of scrums and press conferences and provide in-depth post game analysis each Saturday following Hockey Night in Canada's After Hours show, starting Saturday, March 3rd.

Foxman and Larsen will be joined by Canucks alumni Cliff Ronning as a frequent guest analyst, providing a player's insight into what's happening on and off the ice. Each show will have one host in studio, while the other is on location, including Foxman traveling with the team on the road. Fans will also have the chance to win exclusive weekly prize packs with Canucks gear and Ronning hockey sticks!

Seeking Stanley will be broadcast for the final six regular season Canucks home games on CBC beginning March 3rd from 10:30 PM to 11:00 PM PST.

News Day in B.C. student auditions - Auditions are this weekend! 
More than 500 students attended the journalism workshops January 21 and 22 and 350 of those students have registered for the auditions. They will pitch their best story ideas in the hopes of securing one of 30 coveted spots as a News Day in B.C. student reporter for CBC Vancouver or the Vancouver Sun. Plus, each of the 30 finalists will receive a $1000 scholarship towards post-secondary studies courtesy of Sylvan Learning upon completion of the News Day program.

News Day in B.C. is March 29. Stories will be heard on CBC Radio's The Early Edition, On The Coast, B.C. Almanac, North by Northwest seen on CBC News Vancouver at 5, 5:30 and 6, appear online at throughout the day and in The Vancouver Sun. On radio and tv, students will co-host segments, as well as report on sports and weather.

With the food bank's bulk purchasing power, this translates into over $1.2 million of nutritious groceries for British Columbians in need.

911 Anniversary Coverage on CBC.jpg
This week, September 5-9th, 2011, CBC Vancouver features special programming to mark the 10th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S. We will spend the week hearing from those whose lives were changed by 9/11 and hear how those attacks shook the air industry and continues to do so today. 

Security 9/11: The New Normal explores changes in the experience of air travel since 9/11 and points to where security is headed next by revealing a special pilot project recently completed at YVR.  A lineup of feature topics for the 9/11 Anniversary is also available on a special webiste with interactive features including web polls to coincide with content and a security map of YVR. 
On Friday Sept 9: The Early Edition will broadcast live from YVR to commemorate the events of 9/11 and, for the first time, tell the story of what unfolded that day behind the scenes at YVR as all air traffic in North America was grounded for the first and only time.

CBC News Network will also feature 9/11 anniversary coverage with special features and programs that explore the continuing impacts of the fateful day on Canadians and on people around the world. On September 11th, 2011, CBC News Network and will broadcast the commemoration ceremony from New York City live .

This Saturday, February 26, the B.C. Liberal party will be choosing its new leader - and the province's next premier. CBC will be your destination for coverage of the whole event.

January 6, 2011 - CBC News and CBC British Columbia announced today the expansion of CBC News Vancouver at Six on CHEK.

Beginning January 15, CBC News Vancouver will add new 30-minute weekend newscasts to the CHEK lineup, complementing the existing CBC News Vancouver at Six newscast seen during the week. These new broadcasts will make CBC News Vancouver at Six available 7 days a week on CHEK. The weekend team includes host Aarti Pole, sports with Karin Larsen and weather with Simone Grewal.

"Viewers on the Island have embraced the partnership CBC BC has developed with CHEK," says Johnny Michel, Managing Director, CBC British Columbia. "In addition to getting the best in news, sports and weather from the CBC News Vancouver team during the week, they will now have a great new weekend newscast hosted by Aarti Pole to get them ready for the week ahead."

CBC News Vancouver has been seen at 6 pm on CHEK since April 2010 when host Tony Parsons joined Gloria Macarenko, Shane Foxman and Claire Martin as part of the CBC News Vancouver team.
