November 2012 Archives

CBC is once-again the proud sponsor of the Angels Campaign at Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) - helping to fund critically-needed medical equipment and important research at VGH, UBC Hospital and GF Strong Rehab Centre.

Every year, generous donors make gifts supporting the hospitals and dedicate Angel ornaments to loved ones or those working in hospitals for the specialized care they provide to critically ill and injured patients from across BC. Thousands of dedicated Angels - each representing their own story - will be hung on trees in the Winter Wonderland display in the Diamond Family Courtyard at VGH in December.

We invite you to join us on December 12th for a campaign highlight:

LIVE Radio Broadcast: tune-in to CBC Radio One's The Early Edition, with Rick Cluff from 5:30 - 8:30 am that day, as Margaret Gallagher will be checking in live from VGH throughout the show. You can go to VGH to watch it all happen.

Angel Dedication Event: join CBC News Vancouver's Gloria Macarenko at 10:00am as she hosts the ceremony honouring and celebrating the season and angels around us.

To be a "Guardian Angel", support the hospitals with a donation, and dedicate an Angel in the Winter Wonderland visit

Now in its seventh season on CBC Radio One, The Debaters is the hit show that features Canada's hottest comedians going toe to toe, in a battle of laughs and logic.  Hosted by international headliner and Canada's Best Male Standup of 2011, Steve Patterson, The Debaters is a combustible mix of sharply crafted comedic rants and hilarious adlibs.

Part comedy competition, part quiz show, and part stand-up performance, The Debaters is a clever combination of sharply crafted comedic rants and hilarious ad-libs.

The audience picks the winners based on who delivered the best logic and laughs, the best rhetoric and rant. Facts and force of argument can earn points, but in the end, jokes will likely win the match. Comedy trumps all. The format is competitive, but it's not to be taken too seriously. And it's not to be missed.

The Debaters... where arguments are won with funny and with fact!
