CBC Radio Wins 13 Awards

CBCRadioOneGen blog post image.jpgCBC Radio took home 13 awards at the 2012 New York Festivals International Radio Awards. 

Terry O'Reilly's Age of Persuasion won the Grand Prize Award, while Q host Jian Ghomeshi won the Gold Award for best talk show host!

Overall, CBC Radio programs won more than a dozen award, and eight CBC- produced shows took home trophies, with Age of Persuasion, The Current, and The Sunday Edition winning multiple award.  The Debaters, Spark, and The Next Chapter were also recognized by the New York Festivals.

Gold Awards:
Q with Jian Ghomeshi - "Kinky Friedman and Coldplay" - Best Talk Show Host
Tapestry - "Atheist Pastors" - Best Information/Documentary (Religious Programs)

Silver Awards:
Canada Reads 2011 - Best Special Event
The Current - "Remy's Wake" - Best News Documentary or Special
Inside The Music - "She Moves Between Worlds" - Best Information/Documentary (Culture & The Arts)
Age of Persuasion - "Luxury Advertising" - Best Writing
The Sunday Edition - "A Cruel Coincidence" - Best Information/Documentary Program (Health/Medical)
The Sunday Edition - "The Gristle in the Stew" - Best Information/Documentary Program (Heroes) *United Nations award winner

Bronze Awards:
The Debaters - "Weddings Are A Waste" - Best Regularly Scheduled Comedy Program
The Sunday Edition - "Unfinished Business" - Best Information/Documentary Program (National/International Affairs)
Dispatches  - "The Reunion of Rosa and Antonio" - Best Human Interest Story (News Reports/Features)
The Next Chapter - "North Words" - Culture and the Arts (Information/Documentary)
