CBC Celebrates Canada Day
Canada turns 145 years young on Sunday, July 1 and CBC--Canada's network for Canada Day--celebrates the day with help from noted Canadian artists Feist, Simple Plan and Jully Black. Broadcasts also include live TV and radio coverage from Canada's Capital and special programming on CBC Radio, CBC Music and CBCNews.ca.
Programming highlights include:Canada Day Show - Exclusive to CBCBeginning at 9 a.m. PT., on CBC-TV, CBC News Network and CBCNews.ca, chief correspondent Peter Mansbridge anchors live coverage from Parliament Hill along with Heather Hiscox, bringing viewers a variety of musical performances (including Feist, Simple Plan and Jully Black), speeches by Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and a spectacular fly-past by the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds. The Canada Day celebration also commemorates the bicentennial of the War of 1812. Anne-Marie Mediwake and Laurie Graham will report live from out in the crowd, anticipated to total around 150,000 revellers.Canada Day in the Capital - Exclusive to CBCCBC proudly presents a special broadcast showcasing exciting musical performances by rockers Simple Plan, R&B queen Jully Black and the 2012 JUNO Award-winner for Artist of the Year, Feist, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.A one-hour edition of the evening show will broadcast on CBC-TV and Radio-Canada at 9 p.m. (11:05 AT/11:30 NT), with special programs on ARTV and Espace Musique, which will air the show's best moments at 11 p.m. The show in its entirety will also broadcast live on CBC Radio 2 with host Tom Power, CBC.ca and Radio-Canada.ca/tele, beginning at 5 p.m. PT. Plus, CBC Live will feature exclusive backstage interviews with many of the performers and other behind-the-scenes special content.

Canada Day news coverage from across the country begins on CBC News Network, with special reports airing throughout the day beginning at 3 a.m. PT.CBC Radio OneLive from Major's Hill Park in Ottawa, it's the CBC Songwriter Circle hosted by Meg Wilcox.
