Indiansummer.jpgThe inaugural Indian Summer Festival brings the best of India to Vancouver, July 7 - 17th in celebration of Vancouver’s 125th anniversary and the official "Year of India" in Canada.

The Indian arts & ideas festival will showcase top contemporary and classical Indian talent across music, dance, theatre, literature, film, visual arts, yoga and cuisine - pairing some of India's internationally renowned artists and performers with local Vancouver counterparts. Some highlights include "In-Conversation" with Bollywood star Tabu with best-selling author Yann Martel, an intimate concert with the "god of Indian violin" Dr. L Subramaniam, and even a live cooking demo with Vikram Vij.

Experience Latin America's culture and passion at the 3rd Annual Carnaval Del Sol on June 26th along Granville Street in downtown Vancouver!  This street party stretches along Granville from Smithe to Pender Street. 

Join the celebration and participate in a fun and exciting street soccer tournament featuring the Vancouver WhiteCaps FC and Mayor Gregor Roberston. Dance to salsa music and Zumba while watching great performances by local and international Latin artists. Taste and enjoy traditional foods as Granville Street is transformed into an authentic Latin American open-air food court and marketplace. Bring the kids to play games and activities in the kids entertainment zone. Learn about sustainability from special guest speaker, CBC's The Nature of Things host David Suzuki. Come and experience the superb acoustics of CBC's Studio One with some of Canada's most loved jazz musicians. From June 24th - 29th, you can experience a free jazz concert at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre each night as part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival!  

Seating will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Each concert will begin at 5:30pm and doors will open at 5 p.m.

UPDATE: The Granville Street Fan Zone is being replaced by an expanded Georgia Street viewing area. In addition to CBC's existing screens, 2 additional screens will be added along Georgia Street at Homer and Hamilton. All of Georgia Street between Richards and Hamilton will be closed off to traffic starting at 2 p.m. for fans to watch the game together.

CBC and the City of Vancouver are continuing to join forces to show every Canucks games on 700 Hamilton Street for the Stanley Cup finals! Get ready for an even bigger party!

The CBC 700 Hamilton Street Fan Zone, powered by BC Hydro, will continue to be alive with 2 giant outdoor screens, thousands of cheering fans, face painters, the city's most diverse food carts and free Go Canucks Go posters.

The party starts at 3 p.m. every game night until 4:30 p.m. Then, it's time for Hockey Night in Canada's pre-game show as clock counts down for the face-off Canucks fans have been waiting for all year!

CBC Vancouver is also extending its partnership with the City of Vancouver to host a 2nd Fan Zone location on the 700 block of Granville Street between Robson and Georgia. Fans can now also gather on Granville to watch the game and cheer on the Canucks*. (*Please note this area will now be closed)

winefest.JPGCheck out one of Burnaby's favourite wine tasting events on Saturday, June 11 from 7:30pm - 10pm at Lougheed Town Centre.  Organized by the Burnaby Metrotown Rotary Club, you can sample wines from local and international wineries, culinary delights from local restaurants all while enjoying music from a steel drum band.
