CBC NEWS VANCOUVER IN SURREY SEPTEMBER 21-22

September 20, 2010 - As part of a commitment to connecting with the community, the CBC News Vancouver team will be speaking at a number of events in Surrey on September 21-22.

September 21:
Claire Martin and Shane Foxman will speak to students in the SFU Arts and Technology program (13450 102 Avenue, Surrey, BC) on broadcasting and the media from 1:30 - 2:30 pm.

Following the speaking engagement, the team will be at the Central City Shopping Centre (10153 King George Blvd., Surrey, BC) for a live broadcast of CBC News Vancouver at 5, 5:30 and 6 pm hosted by Tony Parsons and Gloria Macarenko with Claire Martin reporting on weather, and Shane Foxman reporting on sports.

The broadcast will be preceded by performances by the ENTI Hip Hop dancers and the Semiahmoo Jazz Band beginning at 4 pm.

September 22:
Tony Parsons, Gloria Macarenko, Claire Martin and Shane Foxman will be speaking to an all-school assembly at the Bell Theatre at Sullivan Heights Secondary School (6248-144th Street, Surrey, BC) from 1:30 - 2:30 pm.

Following the speaking engagement, the team will be broadcasting CBC News Vancouver at 5, 5:30 and 6 pm live from the atrium of the Sullivan Heights Secondary School.

The broadcast will be preceded by performances by the Sullivan Heights Secondary Senior Concert Band, the ENTI hip hop dancers and bhangra dancers beginning at 4 pm.

Following the broadcast, Gloria Macarenko will be speaking at the 14th Annual Police Officer of the Year Awards (15269 104th Avenue, Surrey, BC).
