August 2010 Archives

The final days of the Musical Nooners at CBC Vancouver wrapped up on August 27 with world music, lively dancing, and a high-flying circus troupe. The Musical Nooners have been entertaining Vancouverites for more than 7 weeks this summer and the grand finale show was a two part extravaganza. Tambura Rasa brought their style of gypsy world fusion song to the outdoor stage and featured flamenco, samba, and belly dancers. The day was topped off with "Air-Born", an aerial acrobatic show put on by the Health Arts Society, which had the audience holding their breath as circus artists flung from a 32' pyramid on the CBC plaza.

Earlier in the week, audience members were treated to Beatles inspired tunes by The Left, contemporary Bhangra by En Karma, acoustic folk by Joanna Champan-Smith, and country rock by Dustin Bentall accompanied by the fierce fiddling of Kendel Carson.
