The award winning Canadian novelist, short story writer and memoirist Wayson Choy will deliver the UBC- Laurier Institution 7th annual Multiculturalism Lecture entitled "Are We There Yet?" at
UBC's Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on April 11th, 2010 at 7pm.

Wayson-Choy-50.jpgWayson Choy explores his personal view that many of us - whether recent arrivals or long-established citizens - suffer fears that may damage Canada's quest to become a multicultural nation. As an "in-between citizen" all his life, growing up between values and cultures, he proposes some challenging antidotes - "remedies" - that have both lightened and enlightened his life..

This year Dharmakasa, a groundbreaking ensemble that draws on the musical traditions of Japan, India, Afria and Australia and fuses them with modern elements, will open the lecture.  Dharmakasa was formed in 2001 in Vancouver, BC.
