The CBC Vancouver team was out in full force to celebrate the Lunar New Year at the 2010 Spring Festival Parade. A favourite annual event of the local community, British Columbians were joined by a bevy of tourists who had also come out to celebrate the diverse cultures of our community.

Dressed in their recognizable red jackets, the smiling CBC team of more than twenty walked the streets of historical Chinatown while offering well wishes to the Asian community. Some handed out "lai see" or red envelopes filled with candy while others whisked the dancing balloon dragon through the giggling crowds.

After her big win on Saturday night, February 13, one of the first stops of 2010 Olympic silver medalist Jenn Heil was the studio of CBC Vancouver. Those lucky fans who were in attendance for a live taping of CBC Radio One's The Current with Anna Maria Tremonti were JennHeil 008.jpgtreated to an in-depth post win interview with Jenn . From talking about injuries, when her athletic journey will end, to her close relationship with her teammates, Jenn took the audience through the trials and victories of her Olympic voyage.

Immediately following her interview with Anna Maria, Jenn was whisked away to another interview with CBC News' Heather Hiscox. She ended her day at CBC Vancouver with an update for CBC Sports on Radio One with producer Bridget O'Toole on-hand. You can check out the photos below!

Today's the day CBC Vancouver takes it to the street with all our local, and many network shows, broadcasting live from the Plaza at CBC.

toque2.jpgAt CBC Radio's first toque session on February 6 the packed audience was invited to come in from the cold into Studio 40, don their limited edition CBC toque session head gear, and were then treated to the cool sounds of C.R. Avery and opening act and songstress Sam Parton.

Accompanied by the Legal Tender String Quartet, Avery brought the house down with his acclaimed new show filled with music, song, poetry and even showcased his skills on the harmonica. The audience swooned to the eclectic sound while showman Avery entertained. The evening closed with a double encore by Avery and Parton.

If you missed the show, you can still join in the fun by tuning in to Canada Live on CBC Radio One on Feb 25 and CBC Radio 2 for broadcasts of the concert.
