BIO | Ken Daneyko
Ken Daneyko spent his entire 20-year NHL career with the New Jersey Devils. Aptly named Mr. Devil, he won three Stanley Cups and played more than 1,000 games, collecting over 2,200 penalty minutes. He was revered for his hard-nosed stay at home style and excelled at keeping pucks out of the net and opponents out of the crease. Fans loved this defenseman's gritty style of play, engaging personality and gap tooth smile. Daneyko's outstanding achievements were honoured in 2000 when he received the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. Daneyko retired after the 2002-2003 seasons and as a testament to his dedication to the Devils franchise had his #3 raised to the rafters in 2006.
BIO | Jodeyne Higgins
Higgins is an extraordinary figure skating talent. She grew up in Stratford, Ontario, where she began skating at the age of three. It didn't take long for Higgins to excel. In her mid teens she met her husband and skating partner, Sean Rice. Through the years the former world team members skated as a pair in many high-profile competitions, winning medals at the Canadian Championships, American Open, and more. When they turned pro things really got exciting.

For the past 10 years these skating gypsies have performed as an adagio pair with Caribbean Cruise Lines. They've toured the world from Hong Kong to Moscow to the famed Le Lido in Paris. Higgins is the Ice Show Performance Director for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. She sees this as her advantage for BATTLE OF THE BLADES because her pro career has forced her to perform in a variety of places, weather conditions, ice conditions and different sizes of ice surfaces. For Higgins, her versatility is key. She believes BATTLE OF THE BLADES will be a great challenge.

Well, it is sure hard to believe that one week has now passed since Battle of the Blades has finished up. The season ended on such a high note with the final three pairs skating very well and the first ever Battle of the Blades champions being crowned. Jamie and Craig were the first ever couple to take the title. I say first ever because CBC announced officially this week that there was going to be a second season next fall. That is so exciting for those of us involved and also I think for Canada too as it was truly amazing to see how Canadians embraced the show and those involved in it and to say we were all apart of something so successful. It is amazing how many people have come up to me now that the show is over and how many messages I have received about the show to tell me how much they have enjoyed it. It all really ended so very special and I am so thankful that I can say that I was apart of it all. It touched so many people in so many various ways that were apart of the show, watched the show and also  The foundations that were one of the biggest success stories of it all too. I can hardly wait until next fall when it will start all over again to see where it will evolve to and how many peoples lives will be touched again.

    Wow, what a night!!

Hi everyone, just wanted to say thank you to all of our friends, family and fans for cheering us on last night at the Gardens. Sean and I had such an amazing time getting the chance to perform out there on the ice and in front of Canada. I have had an amazing time every moment I have been out on the ice getting to skate in the show but it was really icing on the cake getting to skate out there with my husband last night. It was such a thrill to hear everyone in the crowd at Maple Leaf Gardens be in awe when we finished our routine. Like the song said "You Ain't seen nothing yet" and we tried to deliver that all the way till the last move. I know we scared some and others say that is a lot of trust and some say I am crazy but the truth is I love to "fly". Ever since I was a little girl I loved to be  thrown in the air so to get a chance to do it for my profession and none the less with my husband it is just so cool to say. Don't worry I am good hands everyone. If I ever bump the ice we always joke that Sean sleeps on the floor, so it is a good deal. But, on a serious note he always takes the best of care with me so we are able to have complete trust in each other. I think that is why we can do the things we do is because first we love what we do, love each other and have that complete trust factor so we can push things to the most exciting limit there is.

Now, after we skated the night took an interesting twist when all three couples were declared safe after we all found out that Marie-France had injured her back in practice today and would not be able to skate tonight. I think that the decision was the right one made as it will be now up to Canada to decide between the pairs next Sunday and after all that is what is all about. I think that it will be a no holds barred week. The pairs are really going to be working even harder to come up with that special something to show Canada. They have all come so far so it will be such an exciting night next weekend to see what they have come up with. I wish them all the best for a great week of training and for the night of the competition to take it all one step at a time, and to enjoy every moment. It is going to be a great way to end the show.

Well, that is all for now. Stay tuned this week for more updates as the week passes by. Everyone from cast is back for the finale week so I am sure we will have lots of stories to tell. So, exciting as it all heats up to the finale weekend. I am looking so forward to it. Have a great week and talk to you soon.

    Cheers, Jodeyne
