Season 3 Choreographers


Michael Seibert

The former U.S. National Ice Dance Champion (1981-1985) and three-time World Bronze Dance Medallist will once again bring his choreographic expertise to Battle of the Blades. He is an inductee in the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame and an Olympian, but Michael Seibert prides himself most as the Emmy Award winner for choreography of Stars on Ice, which he also co-directed for 11 years.

After retiring from competition, Seibert took his unique creativity into the world of skating choreography as Assistant Choreographer for HBO’s Emmy Award-winning Carmen on Ice. He then went on to work with Brian Boitano and Katarina Witt on their three-year critically acclaimed U.S. tour called Witt and Boitano Skating. Seibert’s choreography has influenced the careers of many of skating’s luminaries including Kurt Browning, Kristi Yamaguchi, Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov.

Seibert worked with Fox Television on Skating with Celebrities, as well as other network specials including CBS’s Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Greatest Hits on Ice and Kristi Yamaguchi and Friends. He served as choreographer on HBO’s feature film Ice Princess, starring Katarina Witt.


Renee Roca

Choreographer and coach, Renee Roca knows what it takes to win gold. The three-time U.S. Champion Ice Dancer (1986, 1993 and 1995) and World Professional Dance Champion has parlayed her well-earned qualifications as a skater into a respected career as a choreographer, working with the biggest names on ice including Jamie Salé, David Pelletier, Katarina Witt, Brian Boitano and Kristi Yamaguchi.

As a professional performer, Roca toured for over a decade with Stars on Ice, Botano/Witt Skating and Champions On Ice. She shared the stage in numerous television specials with such musical talents as Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Michael Feinstein, Josh Groban, Art Garfunkel and Linda Eder. In 1990, she was cast in the Emmy Award-winning production of Carmen on Ice. In 2002, she and her partner Gorsha Sur performed in the Winter Olympic Closing Ceremonies.

Roca’s experience as a choreographer for Fox Television’s Skating With Celebrities and Katarina Witt’s German production of Stars Auf Eis will serve the stars well in Battle of the Blades. She has directed and choreographed NBC’s Brian Boitano’s Holiday Special annually since 2005. Most recently, she completed work on the film Somewhere, directed by Sophia Copella. Roca brings her signature sensual and elegant choreography to CBC Television’s Battle of the Blades.


Shae Zukiwsky

Shae Zukiwsky is pleased to return to Battle of the Blades Season 3. Zukiwsky is a former member of the Canadian National Figure Skating Team and an accomplished contemporary dancer. He is an ISU (International Skating Union) Technical Specialist and the Athlete Representative to the Board of Directors for Skate Canada. Zukiwsky has choreographed for competitive figure skaters in the singles, pairs, and ice dance disciplines working with national champions and international competitors.

Off the ice, Zukiwsky has choreographed for television, stage, and screen and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Simon Fraser University. Zukiwsky currently resides in Toronto and is a doctoral candidate at York University in the Dance Studies, PhD program.


Kelly Johnson

Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canadian ice dancer Kelly Johnson is a World junior silver medallist (1978) and a Canadian silver medallist (1981 and 1982) with partner Kris Barber. Johnson went on to partner with John Thomas and they became Canadian Silver Medallists in 1983 and 1984. They competed in two World Championships finishing tenth place in 1983.

After retiring from competition, Johnson and Thomas toured with the Torvill and Dean World Tour from 1985 to 1987 and then starred in the Ice Capades for the following three years. They performed in two TV figure skating movies: Fire and Ice and Sleeping Beauty. Johnson is a full-time ice dance coach and choreographer at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Ontario and she has worked with many Junior World, World and Olympic competitors and medallists over the years.


Pasquale Camerlengo

Born in Milan, Italy, former ice dancer Pasquale Camerlengo is a two-time National Champion and a two-time Olympian. He placed 5th at the Olympic Games in Albertville, France in 1992 and 4th at Worlds in Lausanne, Switzerland that same year. Camerlengo lives in Detroit and is a coach and choreographer at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, with his wife and former World champion ice dancer, Anjelika Krylova.

He has choreographed programs for many World and Olympic skaters, including Patrice Lauzon and his wife Marie-France Dubreuil.
