Kurt Browning is thrilled to be returning as a co-host for season three of Battle of the Blades alongside Ron MacLean. A figure skating icon who has electrified fans around the globe, Kurt is a Guinness World Record holder as the first person to successfully land a quadruple jump in international competition at the World Championships in 1988. Browning is a four-time Canadian Champion and four-time World Champion. As a professional, Browning won consecutive World Professional and Canadian Professional Championships in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Hailing from Caroline, AB, Browning continues to entertain audiences as part of the Canadian tour for Stars on Ice, with this year marking his 21st season. He starred in the Gemini Award-winning hit specials Kurt Browning: Tall in the Saddle (1992) and Kurt Browning: You Must Remember This (1995), which was seen by fans all over the world. In 1990, Browning was the recipient of the Lou Marsh Trophy. He was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 and Canada's Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2000.
In 2001, he was honoured with a star on Canada's Walk of Fame and in 2006 was inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame. Browning also has the distinction of receiving the Order of Canada. Browning is a two-time recipient of the Lionel Conacher Award, given to Canada's male athlete of the year. Adding to his accomplishments is the Gustav Lussi Award from the Professional Skaters' Association, and the American Skating World's Skater of the Year Award.
Browning resides in Toronto with his wife Sonia Rodriguez, a principal dancer with The National Ballet of Canada, and their two sons Gabriel and Dillon.
