Jeremy Roenick is a celebrated former NHL All-Star. Throughout his 20-year professional hockey career, he played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Phoenix Coyotes, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks and represented Team U.S.A. in numerous international tournaments.
Roenick was born in Boston, Massachusetts and from a young age his outstanding hockey abilities were apparent as he helped lead his Bantam team, the New Jersey Rockets, to the state championships registering 300 points in 75 games, as well as winning two national championships back-to-back. During the 1989 World Junior Championships, Roenick became the all-time leading American scorer, totalling 25 points - a record which was held for 21 years until Jordan Schroeder broke it in 2010. Roenick was drafted to the NHL straight out of high school, chosen eighth overall in the 1988 draft by the Chicago Blackhawks.
During his career, Roenick was awarded the Bobby Clarke Trophy (MVP) and Yanick Dupre Memorial (Class Guy) team awards. He also played in nine NHL All-Star Games and competed as a member of the U.S.A Olympic hockey team in 1998 and 2002, where they won Silver both times. On November 10, 2007, Roenick became the third American born player to score 500 goals in the NHL. In August 2009, he announced his retirement and finished his career having scored 1,216 points (513 goals, 703 assists) in 1,363 games.
Roenick was a favourite player among hockey fans who appreciate his genuine interest and passion for the game. He's also popular with the media for his brash and honest assessment and always speaking from the heart. It's this same boldness that resulted in some entertaining and controversial sound bites.
Now living in Scottsdale, Arizona, Roenick and his wife Tracey have two children, Brandi and Brett. He is a regular contributor on TSN's Off The Record and was also an analyst for NBC during the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and during the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals. This fall, he will work for the NBC Sports Group as the host of NHL Overtime.
