Known as a quiet, respected leader during his hockey career, Saskatchewan native Curtis was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the first round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. He played eight seasons with the Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche franchise, winning a Stanley Cup with Colorado in 1996.
Curtis went on to play with the Washington Capitals (1996-1997) and the Hartford Whalers that same year, then the Carolina Hurricanes (1997-2000), the Minnesota Wild (2000-2001) and the Ottawa Senators (2001-2004). Known as an unassuming teammate but deeply competitive and loyal, his career high was winning the Stanley Cup with Colorado and being the second team member to hold the cup, which was passed to him by Captain Joe Sakic.
Close friend and Battle of the Blades alumnus Kelly Chase encouraged Curtis to join the show this season. Curtis and his wife Laura have decided to move from Colorado back to Saskatoon with their three children Jake, Anna and Kate.
