May 2014 Archives

Good-bye Bandwidth!

On Friday, May 30th, 2014 I packaged my last Bandwidth. I took a little trip down memory lane to revisit my first episode, in 2004. Come along with me as Jim Bryson introduces me to The Acorn, Lynn Miles, and Kelp Records. Plus some of my faves will make an appearance: Lyndon's Frozen Lake, Lynne Hanson, Illusion...

During June, July, and August you will hear some of the best that Bandwidth aired in the recent past. Thanks to Jessa Runciman for her help packaging those.

Over the course of the past decade it's been an absolute pleasure and honour to bring you the best Ontario's music scene has to offer. May the blanket of the music always keep us warm!

With love from The Netherlands (eventually),

May 10th: The Royal Streets, Zoo Legacy, Elton Adams

RoyalStreets_houseconcert lg.jpgI met THE ROYAL STREETS on my street when they played my neighbour's backyard Canada Day 2013. I've followed them all year and called them up this week to chat about their new LP Kings & Queen.

ELTON ADAMS is a Canadian Forces army sergeant and a card-carrying guitar-slinger. Music has been the salve that helps him cope with two tours in Afghanistan and one in Bosnia.

A Sprinterview with Cap City hip hop band ZOO LEGACY.

Plus tunes from CRAIG MAINPRIZEDANY LAJ, and SYLVIA POLLARD.

May 3rd: Faraway Neighbours, Blak Denim,

  • North Bay's answer to Great Lake Swimmers chat from the home the three bandmates share: FARAWAY NEIGHBOURS is the feature interview this week.
  • A Sprinterview with Ottawa's jazz-hip-hop-rock 10 piece band BLAK DENIM. (We couldn't fit them all in the little Bandwidth studio booth so just Karl the bassist came by!)
  • Music from MARC NELSON, A BOOK FOR WANDERERS, THE MEDICINE HAT, THE ROOSEVELTS.
