New Country Rehab and Lynne Hanson give new life to country tunes
First up, you'll hear from New Country Rehab out of Toronto -- which does what their name suggests -- they rework old, old country songs with new music... and the result, as you'll hear, is awesome.
You'll also hear from Ottawa singer-songwriter Lynne Hanson -- she describes her sound as "back porch music with just a little bit of Texas red dirt." If you want to hear even more from the lovely and talented Lynne, she's also on CBC Television Ottawa tonight at 7 on the series Absolutely Ottawa.
UPCOMING SHOWS:
- New Country Rehab plays Hillside Festival this weekend in Guelph, Ont.
- Dawn & Marra play at the Festival of Friends in Ancaster from August 10th to 12th -- more info on their website
- Kalle Mattson plays Sault Ste Marie on August 9th at Loplops -- more info on Facebook
- the Electric Environment plays OTHERfolk in Owen Sound on August 16th
And I can't forget the new video for Kalle Mattson's Water Falls -- check it out below! You should also check out their video for Thick as Thieves right here.
Have an awesome weekend, and I'll catch you next Saturday!
Meg.

Royal Wood, Alex Leggett, and the Polaris Prize short list
It's another great week in the world of Bandwidth!
I've got an interview with Royal Wood (left) -- the singer-songwriter has just released a new album, We Are Born To Glory, and it's a change from his usual fare... find out what inspired his more hopeful turn on this record.
I've also got a chat with up and coming singer-songwriter Alex Leggett, from Gananoque. Alex's third album is being released TODAY, and if you're in the Kingston area then you should hit up his CD release party at the Mansion -- it gets started at 9pm. In addition to being a talented performer, Alex also has a beautiful guitar sponsored by True Axe Guitars -- check it out right here! ------------>
UPCOMING SHOWS:
- ZaphodFestaMusica is happening all day in Ottawa! Lineup includes Fevers, Sound of Lions, Amos the Transparent and Capital Beat.

Chats with Katz, and Amada's music is oh-so Bon
Hey there! Another week, another episode of Bandwidth. I don't know if it's as hot in your necks of the woods as it is in Ottawa... if it is, I've got a playlist for you to enjoy as you try to keep cool!
First, a chat with singer-songwriter Peter Katz (left). We talk about his new album, Still Mind Still, and what inspires his songs (hint: it's CBC related!) If you'r ein the London area, Peter will be playing at the Home County Festival next weekend -- a great chance to see him perform live!
There's also a new Southern Souls video out where Peter performs Still Mind Still -- check it out:
This week, you'll also hear some live music from Ottawa singer-songwriter Amanda Bon -- some songs inspired by the Ottawa area!
I've also got a great acoustic track from the Arkells' Max Kerman when he performed Whistleblower at the Juno Song Circle in Ottawa last April. If you want to hear the full concert, you can listen to it here on CBC Music.
Oh, and as promised -- a link to that Hollerado hot sauce I mentioned.
Have a fantastic rest of your weekend, and keep cool!

From Markham to Mali...
It's July already?! Hope you had a great Canada Day!
This week, Bandwidth delves in to the Vault (ok, so maybe the vault is more figurative than literal) to pull out our chat with Kiran Ahluwalia, world music superstar and two time Juno winner (left). Kiran's originally from Markham, but she's travelled and performed around the world -- and she has plenty of great stories to share!
You'll also hear some great LIVE music from City and Colour -- also known as Dallas Green (on the left). It's from a show recorded at last year's Calgary Folk Festival -- and if you want to hear the whole show, click here to find it on CBC Music.
UPCOMING SHOWS:
- you can find Donna LeClair's upcoming gigs on her CBC Music page
- Brian Dunn's upcoming shows are listed on his website
Catch you next week!
