Babel's best borrowed word is: pochemuchka (poh-chay-MOOCH-ka). It's a Russian word that means someone who asks too many questions. It comes from the word "pochemu" which means "why". Alyosha Pochemuchka was a character in a popular children's book, a small boy who asked a lot of questions.
Congratulations to Sandra Post from London, Ontario, who submitted the winning entry chosen by a random draw. Thanks to everyone for your nominations, and for your sheer love of language!
