Geordie Haley Quartet on Atlantic Airwaves

geordiehaley.jpgGeordie Haley takes centre stage on Atlantic Airwaves this weekend. This is a concert recorded this summer at the Atlantic Jazz Fest in Halifax. Geordie has a terrific band with him including Tom Roach, drums, Willem Paynter,bass and Martin Davidson,sax. The entire show is dedicated to the music of jazz legend Thelonious Monk. We'll hear classic Monk tunes - a great way to spend some time on a Saturday. Atlantic Airwaves at 10 in the morning on CBC Radio 2 and at 5 past 5 on CBC Radio 1.

Mary Jane Lamond and Wendy MacIsaac hit the Airwaves

MJ and Wendy jpeg.jpgLong time friends and musical collaborators Gaelic singer Mary Jane Lamond and fiddler Wendy MacIsaac are featured on Atlantic Airwaves this week. After the release of their new CD titled 'Seinn', Mary Jane and Wendy hit the road and presented concerts around the region this summer. Atlantic Airwaves caught up with them at the Chester Playhouse and recorded their performance. Tune in Saturday at 10 a.m. on CBC Radio 2 and at 5 past 5 in the afternoon on CBC Radio 1.

Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac are described as quiet, thrilling, and acoustically breathtaking. Tune in Saturday at 10 a.m. on CBC Radio 2 and at 5 past 5 in the afternoon on CBC Radio 1 for some of the best music made in Atlantic Canada.

Atlantic Airwaves Goes Country

The Awards will be televised on CBC TV Sunday evening, September the 8th. Also on our show we have a feature with up and coming country singer/songwriter Meaghan Blanchard from PEI. She stops by our Charlottetown studio to chat about her brand new release 'She's Gonna Fly'. And as part of our Airwaves Goes Country show we have a studio session with musician Ryan Cook. Ryan is dedicated to old time country music and he partners up with lap steel and dobro player Asa Brosius for this performance. See below for videos.
