The Celtic Colours Sessions with the Barra MacNeils plus a tribute Concert to Gene MacLellan on Atlantic Airwaves

t-cd-celticcolourssessions.jpg This week Atlantic Airwaves has two collaborative projects that took place in the last year. We'll hear from the Barra MacNeils recent CD 'The Celtic Colours Sessions'. The Barras recorded with nearly a dozen different performers while attending the Festival in Cape Breton in 2011.

As well, the iconic songs of Gene MacLellan feature on Atlantic Airwaves this week. From a tribute concert recorded last January we'll hear 'Snowbird', 'The Call' and 'Put Your Hand In The Hand'. Performers include Lennie Gallant, Ron Hynes, Meaghan Blanchard, Dennis Ellsworth, and Gene's daughter Catherine. To watch the video of this concert click here.

Atlantic Airwaves is heard Saturdays at 10 a.m. on CBC Radio 2 and at 5:05 in the afternoon on CBC Radio 1.

The Modern Grass and Jennah Barry - Swingin' Around the Christmas Tree

Modern Grass and singer/songwriter Jennah Barry team up for this concert of holiday favourites delivered with the usual Modern Grass twists and turns - a little bluegrass, jazz, blues and country. Atlantic Airwaves is heard Saturdays - on CBC Radio 2 at 10 a.m. and on CBC Radio 1 at 5 past 5 in the afternoon.

Yes we've waited long enough! This week on Atlantic Airwaves we dip into some seasonal music that will definitely get you into the holiday spirit. We'll hear from the Ennis Sisters, Meaghan Smith, Sons of Maxwell and a few more for good measure. We also have a feature with Jimmy Rankin chatting about his new Christmas CD called 'Tinsel Town'. So tune into Atlantic Airwaves this Saturday at 10 a.m. on CBC Radio 2 and at 5 past 5 in the afternoon on CBC Radio One.

This week on Atlantic Airwaves we're off to Cape Breton for the Celtic Guitar Summit featuring Dave MacIsaac, JP Cormier, John Doyle and Ray Legere. One of the many concerts given during the 2012 Celtic Colours International Festival.
