Nelson Mandel has been laid to rest in a family plot in his ancestral home of Qunu.
He died on December 5th, at the age of 95.
As a white friend of Mandela and a member of the African National Congress when it was an outlaw organization, South African novelist and Nobel Prize winner, Nadine Gordimer also faced censure in the apartheid era from the South African government.
