At least six people were killed and 30 injured this morning when an Ottawa city bus ran into a moving Via Rail train. The driver of the bus, who appeared not to notice the train crossing despite the level-crossing barriers, was among those who died.

Gregory Mech was sitting on the upper level of the double-decker bus when the collision occurred. Here is his conversation with Carol, where he described what he saw and heard.
