Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver met with U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz yesterday in Washington DC. It was Minister Oliver's fifth trip to the U.S. capital in an ongoing effort to get approval for the Keystone XL pipeline.
A decision on TransCanada's proposed pipeline was delayed by the U.S. State Department in November of 2011. But after further assessment, approval of the pipeline is now expected within months. Minister Oliver says that he wants to collaborate with the U.S. government on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and doing the right thing for the environment through science and technology.
