Bar patron in Dawson City swallows the Sourtoe (yes, a human toe!)

Sourtoe Cocktail Saturday at the Downtown Hotel (Philippe Morin/CBC)
It was a typical Saturday night at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City.
Well-lubricated patrons were lining up to take part in a Yukon
tradition. It's called the Sourtoe Cocktail. And for the uninitiated,
the tradition involves placing a severed human toe in a shot of liquor,
downing the liquor and kissing the toe at the bottom of the glass.
It almost goes without saying that the idea here is to NOT swallow the toe. Almost. On Saturday night, one customer clearly had different ideas when he breezed into the bar and ordered a Sourtoe Cocktail.
Terry Lee was the bar's 'Toe Captain' on the night in question. He told As it Happens where things went wrong.
