Heather Nguyen MacDonald had an incredible story of survival and displacement...and that was before she was even a year old. She died last weekend in Halifax of pancreatic cancer at the age of 38.

She was as an orphan in Saigon, one of hundreds of babies who were airlifted out as the city fell at the end of the Vietnam war. She began a new life with an adopted family in Cape Breton, and years later revisited her roots in a documentary called "Falling from the Sky.

Carolyn MacDonald is Heather's mother and Alison MacDonald is her older sister and they share their memories with us.
