The Conservative government wants to introduce a range of changes to the Canadian Museum of Civilisation, including a name change. If the plans go ahead, the museum, which is in Gatineau, Quebec, would be called the Canadian Museum of History. It's a change that worries the museum's former President, Victor Rabinovitch. He believes the proposed changes, including a change of focus, would undermine the global standing of the museum and turn a forward-looking institution of discovery and learning into one solely focused on Canada's past.
