Homeless advocate and journalist, James Breckenridge, says the city of Abbotsford, BC, has been 'hunting' its homeless people for months, confiscating their few belongings, tearing down their shelters, and tossing them all in the back of city dump trucks.
This week, a well known camping place for homeless -- a small clearing where people live together and watch each others belongings -- was hit. The city dumped and spread a significant quantity of chicken manure over the area.
Abbotsford's Mayor, Bruce Banman, has apologized and says he knew nothing of the plan. City Manager, George Murray, has also apologized and says he retains full responsibility for the action.
