Yesterday, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species
of Wild Fauna and Flora - or CITES - voted to protect three endangered species of shark. Wildlife groups have called the move "historic".
Jonathan Kathrein has first-hand knowledge of sharks. He bears the scars of a Great White strike that required over 7 hours of surgery and more than 600 stitches to close his wounds. Nowadays, though, he is an advocate for shark protection.
For his reaction to yesterday's vote in Bangkok, we reached Mr. Kathrein in Santa Rosa, California.
