For three months, the Syrian army laid siege to the city of Homs. Every day, from sunrise until sundown, shells and rockets rained death on the civilians trapped in the Baba Amr neighbourhood during the campaign, which began a year ago this month. Sunday Times photographer Paul Conroy was seriously injured in an attack that killed reporter Marie Colvin and photographer RĂ©mi Ochlik, almost exactly a year ago today.
