The Masked Protester Bill
Thursday, November 1, 2012 |
Blake Richard's Private Member's Bill would see this guy indicted, just for wearing the mask.
Activists and civil libertarians say the bill threatens freedom of
speech. The Conservative MP who introduced the legislation
insists it's a tool needed by police.
A private member's bill that will make it an indictable offense to wear a mask, or other kind of disguise, at any kind of illegal assembly, passed its third reading in the House of Commons yesterday.
Blake Richards is the MP for the Alberta riding of Wild Rose. We reached him in Ottawa.
