Six families of endangered gorillas are missing in DRC war zone.
Tentative ceasefire brokered to allow search for missing apes.
The Mountain Gorilla is a critically endangered species. Fully one quarter of the world's remaining Mountain Gorillas are located in Africa's oldest national park - Virunga - in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
For years, these gorillas have been caught in the middle of intense fighting between the Congolese army and M23 rebels. Now that fighting has intensified and six families of apes are missing.
We reached park director Emmanuel de Merode at Virunga Park Headquarters, in Rumangabo, DRC.
