For Len Boogaard, mourning the death of his son, NHL player Derek Boogaard has not been simple.
   
Derek died in May 2011 from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs and alcohol. At the time, he was struggling with depression. And many speculated his role as a so-called enforcer on the ice played a part.
   
But those explanations weren't enough for Len Boogaard. So the veteran Mountie began his own private investigation into his son's medical treatment in the years leading up to his death.
