John Irving

John Irving's new novel, In One Person, comes out next week.

The man who brought us such iconoclastic characters as T.S. Garp, Owen Meany and Homer Wells brings us the story of Billy Abbott, a bisexual man who comes of age surrounded by the social prejudices of postwar America -- and faces down the AIDS epidemic of the nineteen-eighties.

Carol recently sat down with John Irving in the As It Happens studio.
