Bill Thomas is lucky to be alive. He is recovering in hospital tonight, one day after Canada's four man bobsled team had a serious crash during a training run in Altenberg, Germany. The team's coach has asked for the track to be altered, to make it safer. But the track officials have refused. The Canadian team has withdrawn from the competition, in protest.
