Ann Patchett - Parnassus Books
Worried by the closure of book stores in her home town of Nashville, Tennessee, award-winning author Ann Patchett decided to take matters into her own hands.
So she opened Parnassus, where you can drop in, grab some quality books and get a must-read list from a must-read author.
Here is Ms. Patchett's current 'must read' list:
What's on your 'must-read' list? The Marriage Plot, Jeffrey Eugenides (Farrar, Straus and Giroux, Knopf, Canada)
Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman, Robert K. Massie (Random House)
Train Dreams, Denis Johnson (Farrar, Straus and Giroux)
The Family Fang, Kevin Wilson (Ecco.)
The All Of It, Jeannette Halen (HarperCollins)

Return to Tahrir
It was with a chilling sense of deja vu that I listened to Carol speaking to protester Nazly Hussein from Cairo's Tahrir Square yesterday, as Ms. Hussein took part in the massive protests calling for the military to release its hold on power.
It was merely nine months ago that the military was looked to with hope as the power that could lead Egypt to freedom, as tens of thousands of Egyptians took to the streets to drive Hosni Mubarak from power.

Featured Audio: New "Marcel the Shell" Video
In real life, celebrities are always smaller than you thought they'd be. Except, probably, for Marcel. No question about it, Marcel's a star. He's got millions of YouTube fans, and his own book deal. And so far, he's coping well -- he's still the same bashful guy he always was. But no one imagines Marcel is larger than he is. Because his fans have all seen him walking around on a cellphone, or heard him say that he sleeps on bread. I guess I should mention that Marcel is a tiny shell. His full name is "Marcel The Shell With Shoes On". And this week, the filmmakers behind Marcel uploaded the second installment.
Dean Fleischer-Camp is the filmmaker behind Marcel -- along with his finacée, Jenny Slate. We reached Mr. Fleischer-Camp in New York City.
