A seventy-page document from Toronto's Chief of Police could be summed up as follows: "We messed up."
The report is a post mortem of policing at last year's G20 summit. And to be fair, yesterday's report does point out that the police did a couple of big things right: there was never a breach of security at G20 summit sites in Toronto, and the safety of VIPs was not compromised. But there's also a stark admission that officers were overwhelmed by events.
