G-20 Bill Blair (Extended Version)

A seventy-page document from Toronto's Chief of Police could be summed up as follows: "We messed up."
The report is a post mortem of policing at last year's G20 summit. And to be fair, yesterday's report does point out that the police did a couple of big things right: there was never a breach of security at G20 summit sites in Toronto, and the safety of VIPs was not compromised. But there's also a stark admission that officers were overwhelmed by events.
We reached Chief Bill Blair in Toronto.

Botswana Ambassador (extended version)

The Bushmen of the Kalahari don't exactly have a high profile on the international stage, but, like aboriginal people in many other parts of the world, they have claims against their government - claims of abuse, forced resettlement and the basic denial of human rights. In this case, it's about the government of Botswana, a country that many view as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

Monday night on As It Happens, we heard from Roy Sesana, a Bushman of the Kalahari. He's been waging a long legal battle for the rights of his people. The courts of Botswana have ruled in favour of the First People of the Kalahari, also known as the Basarwa, but Mr. Sesana says the government is not respecting those rulings.

Tebelelo Seretse is Botswana's Ambassador to the United States. We reached her in Washington.
