For the Record: Photocopier Transcript - An "As it Happens" Dramatization

Last year, the Ohio Supreme Court heard a case about documents at the Cuyahoga County Recorder's office. The question was whether those documents -- deeds and such -- should be available to the public for purchase at a minimal cost. But the real question became whether Lawrence Patterson -- the acting head of I.T. at the Recorder's Office -- knew what a photocopier was.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer recently published a lengthy excerpt from the transcript of that court proceeding. And tonight, we'll feature excerpts from that transcript, as brought to life by "As It Happens" staff.

Jeff will be reading the part of lawyer David Marburger, who represents the title companies that want access to the documents. Senior Producer Robin Smythe will be reading the part of lawyer Steve Cavanagh, who was representing Cuyahoga County. And writer Chris Howden will be reading the part of Recorder's Office I.T. head Lawrence Patterson.
